common transmission failures
- Mazda 3 2004-2011, Mazda 5 2005- 2011, Mazda 6 2002-2011 Mazda MPV 2008-2010 Ford Focus 2000-on with 4spd and 5spd automatic transmissions hard shifts and slips or no 2nd, 4th or 5th gears. Can show Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) P0752, P0754 P0757. Transmission case commonly wears at band servo bore. Once transmission is removed and apart the case can be re-bored and sleeved to fix problem, 2-4 band is usually burned up.
- Nissan Altima 2003-2006 with automatic 5spd. automatic transmission shifts hard into 2nd and 3rd gear when it gets hot, Common failure in solenoids also causes valves bores to wear excessivly. valve body usually needs to be replaced.
- Volks Wagen Jetta 2002-2008, Land Rover Freelander 2000-2006 Mazda MPV 2002-2006 with 5 spd automatic transmission with hard shifts. Common failure, Excessive wear in valve body can brake Reverse input piston due to high line pressure. Valve body needs to be replaced.
- Chevrolet and GMC trucks 1500 , 2500, Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon 1995-2011 with 4spd 4L60E transmission no reverse. Common failure Sun shell brakes. Sun shell needs to be updated to hardened sun shell.
