Automatic Transmissions
Most automatic transmissions are misdiagnosed! Large portions of vehicles on the road today are computer controlled. Therefore misdiagnosing an automatic transmission is easy to do, if you don't have the right knowledge and experience, along with the proper equipment. Late model vehicles are equipped with computer controls that work on sensors located throughout the main components and systems (i.e. engine, fuel delivery, air conditioner, etc.). In most cases these sensor send signals to a main computer commonly referred to as the ECM (electronic control module).
Your ECM then controls how and when your transmission should shift. Monitoring these sensors is a very important step in diagnosing your vehicle properly, because improper signal from one or more of these sensors can set failure codes in your system that may have repercussions effecting your transmission performance. In order to detect any of these failures, shops must keep up with the latest diagnostic software. Our automatic transmission technicians are constantly training in the latest systems on the market. Rest assured that we will do anything within our power to diagnose your vehicle properly because electrical malfunction can lead to mechanical failure.
Clutches
We warranty all factory clutches for 2 years or 24,000 miles, against parts or workmanship failure. Under normal driving conditions a clutch may last between 80,000 and 110,000 miles. We also stand behind our installation labor for as long as we warranty the clutch components.
There are 2 main reasons for premature clutch failures: (1) leaky rear main engine oil seal, and (2) leaky internal clutch slave cylinders that will dampen a clutch disc. Damp clutch discs will rapidly begin to slip and overheat clutch components. Our technicians carefully inspect these components for leaks so that you are worry free once your clutch has been replaced at our shop.
Flywheels are always resurfaced at our shop and are always included in the quote so there are no hidden fees. Flywheels are resurfaced to prevent vibrations, delete hotspots created by the old clutch and to eliminate minor heat cracks. All flywheels are resurfaced in house to speed-up the clutch replacement process. In most cases (about 97% of the time) clutch replacements are done the same day! As long as the vehicle is dropped off before 8:30 am.
Heavy-duty clutches are also available, in most cases for pick-ups. However ceramic clutch lining can be applied to one or both sides of the clutch disc to reduce slippage as desired. In most cases these clutches are used in large towing or racing applications, their modified clutches are only warranteed to work properly and are not warranteed for a certain period of time.
Differentials
Whether you have bad differential bearings, gears or simply want to change gear ratios, you need someone with experience. Setting up differential gears is critical because you don't want a noisy differential after you spend all your hard-earned money. Improper installation of gears and bearings can also lead to further damage down the road. We can install air lockers or standard posi-track units. Specialty work is no problem for our experienced technicians. Before you go anywhere and have bearings changed, let our techs listen to your differentials and pin point where your noise is coming from!
Heavy-Duty Transmissions
Our latest trend of demands are composed of individuals looking for Dodge and Ford transmissions that will last behind their high powered diesels. We understand that some people want to make after-market modifications to their diesel engines. However the most common problem being experienced, is trying to keep a transmission and torque converter behind this type of demand. Whether you're a weekend adventurer who pulls a 5th wheel trailer, a farmer/rancher who pulls a horse trailer or heavy loads of hay, a construction company who hauls heavy machinery and equipment or a gear head that loves vast amounts of torque and horse power, we have the transmission for you.
We understand that knowledge is a critical acquisition, therefore we would like to answer as many questions as possible. We would like you to feel comfortable in asking any questions.
